Voice and Music Lessons

COVID 19 UPDATE: Due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, all vocal instruction will be taught via Zoom until further notice.

Miriam Davidson has been in demand as a voice teacher and music educator since 2002. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University Of British Columbia. She teaches voice and beginner piano in her home studio in the Fraserview area of Vancouver, online as well at Mt. Pleasant Community Centre, Renfrew Community Centre the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Edmonds Community Centre and through Beethoven at Home Music School. In April 2016, she was the vocal adjudicator at the Pacific Northwest Music Festival in Terrace, BC. In April 2017, she was the vocal adjudicator for the East Kootenay Music Festival in Cranbrook, BC.

Miriam takes a very positive and encouraging approach to voice pedagogy. She works with each person one on one in exploring the joy of making music. Singing lessons for youth and adults focus building good control, tone and confidence through breath support. Miriam works with individual students in choosing the song repertoire that they want to sing and so they get the most enjoyment out of the lessons. She also works on ear training and sight singing so that students get a well rounded approach to singing. In addition, Miriam offers Voice RCM exam preparation up to Grade 10. She also offers coaching for those who just want a little extra help with an audition.

Miriam has a great deal of experience in working with young children in voice and piano. Beginner piano lessons are best suited to children 6 years and older. If children ages 10 and under have not taken piano lessons before, Miriam offers a combination of voice and piano since learning piano is the best way to learn how to read music.

Twice a year, in November and May, Miriam hosts an afternoon tea party at her home. Here, students get to show off their talents in a friendly environment for their friends and family. Upon request, students are also offered the opportunity to sing at the annual Kiwannis Music Festival. For the next recital in November 2020, it may be held virtually via Zoom.

Group Classes

In addition to private teaching, Miriam specializes in early childhood music education and in teaching singing to groups of students. She has developed and currently teaches the following courses:
